Air compressor with Nail gun

My cousin already has a 4 gallon air compressor that runs 2.8 SCFM at 90 psi.

You posted two bad links.
If your talking about a framing gun, it needs more then 90 PSI to work right and I belive most call for about 3.5 CFM.
To small a compressor and you can look foward to having to hand set the nails and wait for it to catch up.

I don't know if it matters but i won't be using this gun and compressor for nailing to concrete, just 2x3's.

Ok yeah you were right. That tank will not work. I was looking at Home Depot and found this compressor. Seems it will handle the job. 4 CFM at 90psi and 5CFM at 40psi.

if it is a small job there is nothing wrong with hand nailing. its cheaper and you get more excercise.

Yeah if it gets too much more expensive I'm hand nailing even though I've never framed that way before. Should that 8 gallon be good? I read it's continuous pressure for framing.

I agree. And even large jobs aren't that difficult. My wife and I built our log home ourselves, and hand nailed all the interior framing. I do have a couple of smaller pneumatic nailers, but the framers scare the heck out of me. We've worked several builds with Habitat for Humanity, and volunteers aren't allowed to touch them.

guys with their finger always on the trigger are what scares me with nail guns, I've been shot by someone doing just that and it is the first rule you learn when using a nail gun- do not keep the finger on the trigger unless you are 1 second away from shooting into wood. don't hold your finger close to where you are shooting also because nails will curl and stick back out of the wood in weird ways sticking you if your hand is there.
