Air compressor breather oil discharge
I have a 20 yr old Campbell Hausfeld cast iron 20gal/4hp compressor that is bubbling oil out the crankcase breather. The oil level is correct. This unit has not been used for several years because of a bad tank, but has been run a couple of times. The problem occurred with the installation of a new tank. Tank pressure is 100 PSI which is the second problem as it should max at 120 PSI.

Thanks for your help.

Maybe that old motor is showing it's age. My have piston bypass which is pressurizing the crankcase, hence the blow out at the breather.

Does it happen even when the tank is at 0 psi and just beginning to fill? If not, does the oil seepage increase proportional to the tank pressure? If so, then it's likely piston ring bypass.

Could also be condensation in the oil; when was the last time that you changed it?
