Adjusting LVL beam to pitch of roof

We are currently renovating the main floor of our bungalow style house and we have had a engineer by to approve all of our renos, however we neglected one small detail.
In order to open the space up, we are installing a 11 7/8" 2 ply lvl @ 24'-0". We are also going to keep the ceiling joists exposed, lay t&g on top and cover the lvl with drywall.
In order to keep the ceiling height at a maximum, we are looking to hang the ceiling joists in the middle of the lvl. My problem is this: we have a gable roof with a hip roof on one end. The hip roof end is where the lvl beam is ending at. There is not enough clearance for the beam due to the pitch of the roof. Is it possible to cut the top corner end of the lvl on an angle in order to fit with the pitch of the roof? We were thinking 4" would give us enough to get the beam high enough to accept the ceiling joists in the middle of it and have the least amount of lvl beam reveal in our living space. I have attached a diagram to further outline what we are looking to do.

iLevel by Weyerhauser has a table of allowble end tapers. Your taper is way shy of the limits they allow. http://www.ilevel.com/literature/tj-9000.pdf

You may have a different manufacturer, but all of them have these prescriptive tables for modifying their products.
