adjustable height platform (tripod) for a laser

last night, i discovered that i would need something like this. i wanted to project a level line across a wall that was pretty much in the middle height-wise. i accomplished it by stacking random boxes and pieces of lumber of different thickness to achieve the exact height but, needless to say, that was way too pedestrian.

what should i get to make tasks like this easy? i was thinking some stand like those that working lights use, with a telescopic rod and a tripod in the bottom.

I often use my camera's tripod for my laser. It has three extendable legs and an adjustable neck that raises a couple feet above the head. You can get a pretty inexpensive version at WalMart or any electronics store.

Laser

Do a google search for Laser Jamb. I think it will extend to 12' or better.

In bob's defense: You can find them every where - Even Home Depot and Lowe's carry "transit tripods" in their tool sections .... besides Ebay, amazon, and many other places.

then again, there's always duct tape and a long, sharp stick to shove in the ground.....
