My question is similar to Christopher_45. We're building a new deck and want to enclose it with a roof and screens all around for the walls. The point where the new roof connects to our house is 6 inches below the overhang of our current roof. How do I connect the first truss for the new roof to our house, which has the old style compressed board siding on the outside?
I would have your walls up and place the truss up against the siding exactly where it will go. Trace the truss on your siding and cut that part of your siding out. Then fix the truss to the house using nails or screws. Once complete it should be flashed properly against the house by having the flashing cut into a regulate.
