Adding a room, footings for all walls, or just new exterior?

I'm planning to add a room, two of the walls will be new exterior walls, the other two meet the existing house. Do I need footings below all four walls, or can I tie into the two existing walls? My concern is that there is a soon-to-be filled oil tank below the room and I hope I don't have to dig footings near it.

you need footings under load bearing walls and columns. it really depends how you plan to frame it, i dont see why you can get away with the 2 footings. really you have tyo draw something up and go to your local town building department.

Yes, you will definitely need some kind of footings. That is required by code. & Yes there also will be an issue regarding that oil tank.
