Adding onto an existing garage

I am currently in the process of purchasing a house that has a 24'x22' 2 car detached garage. It was built in 1947 and was stick framed with wall and rafters 24" on center. The current building has wood siding directly nailed to the studs. I am going to remove all the siding and install osb plywood on the existing and new part and then siding.

What I need to know is which way is better to go, stick frame the rafters 16" on center or trusses? Since this garage was built in 1947 it has 1"x6" sheathing for the roof so I am worried about matching it up to the new roof on the addition.

The cost that I have gotten for trusses 7/12 is $56.00 each.

The total cost of materials not including trusses is $2536 which includes shingles & siding, but they didn't subtract one of the walls since it is only going to be 3 walls that will need sided.

Thanks
Wayne

If your trusses match the roof pitch, it is an easier way to go...24 on center...if not, framing is the way, 24 on center.

I will have to see since I have calculated that the pitch is somewhere between 6 to 7/12. (This is without a ladder measured from the ground) It had looked like it was a 6.5/12 pitch from the ground.
