Adding a deck to a house with vinyl siding

I will be attaching an 8x8' deck to an exsisting deck on our house. The current header board is attached to the house and framed in the vinyl trim. I would like to duplicate this, but in order to do so, I will have to cut the siding lengthwise above a seam. I assume the builder used J-channel to anchor the exsisting trim work, but on the top edge were the cut is above the seam, the trim looks to be doubled up. Any idea what the pieces are the will better lock the siding in place where there is no loose siding? Thanks, Tim

Undersill is typically used to dress up a cut edge.

This is a nice flashing detail over the top of the ledger.(AKA your header board)

The undersill would be attached to that raw edge that was hand cut.
