1x4 king stud on interior door

But usually a 2x6 header is a min for me
Just not worth it to save the $10-20 cost of the header
I hear you. My issue was squeezing in an interior bathroom door next to a vent pipe I really didn't want to relocate. At best, the trimmer studs would have limited me to a special order 26" door. My shoulders touch both sides of a 24" doorway.
