I wouldn’t worry about it. You can always plug the hole.

Thanks bud!
Ya, I'll just cover the hole with wood putty before I paint. My only concern was the structural part of it, but I guess with a 6x6 post, a half inch hole isn't going to change much!

drill the hole and use a dowel to plug it.
Let-in bracing will not weaken the structure if common sense if used. The braces would only need to be 2" material like you are using.
Countersink the bolt head and the nuts so they aren't sticking out to avoid injury to yourself or others.

I agree with you on the let in. Would have been much easier to set up for before the beams went up.

I know that someone recommended two bolts through each side of each corner brace. If I use 2x10's on the outside of the header and posts, what do you guys recommend, 1 bolt on each side or two bolts? On the header it would work, but it seems like on the posts, having 4 bolts going through in the same area would weaken the posts.

So I shouldn't worry about 4 bolts going through the same area of the posts?
What size bolts would you reccomend?
Thanks for the help.

With the kind of advice you receive here and seem inclined to follow, just post again when the whole canopy will collapse.
Don't forget to attach pictures.

What are you talking about? What advice am I not following? I have some corner braces nailed in right now on the inside of the posts and headers and can feel them move when I rack from left to right.
So my next step is to go with a longer 2x6 and bolt them in on the outside of the posts and headers. I am positive that this will at least help a little if not alot.
If this doesn't take care of the problem, then I will take another step.
I appreciate your input but am having trouble understanding why you made that statement about my structure falling over.
