Wiring a shop light

Wiring a shop light to a dedicated switch.

Got a black, white, and yellow coming from the light.

Sheet in the box says,

"If fixture is to be switched from wall switch, make sure that the black power supply wire is connected to the switch. DO NOT connect the white supply wire to the switch."

Got a black, white, and ground coming from the panel.

Got a black, white, and ground coming from the switch.

Confused by the yellow (expected a ground) and the quoted instruction.

One yellow does run to the lamp holder. I boxed it up; I'll take another pic tomorrow and post it.

The yellows, reds, and blues connect to the lamp holders. The black and white are your power wires. Attach the ground to the grounding screw inside the fixture. The diagram is on the ballast.

Sure enough, the other yellow did go to the lamp holder. Must of fell out at some point pulling it out of the box. Similar to a receptacle back stab.

OK. So, what's the quoted text referring to? -- "...DO NOT connect the white supply wire to the switch"?

All that means is you must switch the hot lead (black) and not the neutral (white).

Thanks. And, John, I saw the diagram on the ballast, but I guess it's time to step up a notch or two in readers. Couldn't make out what it said, and wasn't about to ask my wife. Got it up and working...thanks again.
