I have a mid 80'S home and the old range was hard wired. i have bought a 4 wire outlet to fit the new range plug. the wiring from the house only has 3 wires. 2 black that i am assuming are hot. and one bare silver wire same gauge that i am assuming neutral. the four wire outlet has a spot for a ground. can i hook up the 4 wire outlet without the ground coming from breaker?
Jim, why can he not just make sure the range has a ground strap from the range to the middle lug and hardwire it like it was, disregarding the green grnd wire?
