Wiring outside lantern lights?

Thanks guys.

In new construction when running a wire to a light that will be outside (like 2 lantern style lights on both sides outside of a sliding glass door); should a work box be used?

Siding will be on the exterior.

How do you normally do this?

You have to use a box, I usually use some type of siding block so the fixture sits flat against something.

I just called my supply house and they said that the Siding block that I will be getting does not have an integrated electrical box. What type of box do you install for this type of application?

Thanks!
