Wiring old medicine cabinet with fluorescent lighting

I have an old recessed medicine cabinet that my brother-in-law removed. I'm trying to reinstall it and he doesn't remember how the wiring went. This is an cabinet with two fluorescent lights and a toggle switch. Just want to make sure that we hook it up correctly.

Coming from the ballast and switch side of the cabinet there are a black, white and red wire. On the other side are a white and red wire. There is a hot and neutral coming from the house wiring. How do I hook up the wires?

Thanks for any help!

Tried this and unfortunately blew the light bulb and tripped the breaker. Thanks any way.

I'll try this configuration - but have to get some more bulbs before I can test it. Thanks!

Tube style fluorescent lamps will not blow in that situation. You may have fried the ballast or starter however.

Can you confirm what rjniles posted earlier? I'm not sure I understand exactly what he posted about the 2 wire cable to connect the reds and whites together.

Run the feed (black & White ) to the black and white on the switch side. Connect a 2 wire cable (of appropriate size and type) to the red and white on the switch side to the red and white on the other side. Use the black in the 2 wire cable as the red.
