wiring in my garage

I want to switch out the single bulb light in my garage for a florecent two light fixture. When I removed the old light I found 6 wires. Two whites spliced, two blacks spliced, a red, and the copper ground. The light I am hooking up is a tech light. When wired with the white and black it runs non-stop even when the switch is off. When wired red and white it won't turn on the light, but the box does hum. How am I suppose to wire this?

Wire it the same as the old one was. The only difference might be the ground. It will go to a green wire or screw on the new light.
