wiring multi-tap 400w 240 v Metal Halide light to a single pole switch
I have a 64x 40ft shop and I am hanging three outside lights and six 400w multi-tap lights.
A electrician I know told me that I could use 240v breaker switches (120v 20a/120v 20a); single pole switches (15/20a 120/277v); regular 3-way switches (15/20a 120/277v).
The electrician said I could run a lead (12-2) from a 240v breaker and power two bays of lights (each bay will have two 240v multi-tap 400w MH). Each bay will be switched with its own 15/20a 120/277v 3-way switch, One 3-way at each end of the shop.
He also said I could run a lead (12-2) from a 240v breaker and power one bay of lights (two 240v multi-tap 400w MH) and three outside lights (one 240v multi-tap 125w MH; two 240v multi-tap 26w compact flourescents)
Is this correct code?
Being one hot wire (240v) go's to the white (non flagged) wire without being switched will this damage the ballast or light in any way?
