Wiring a lighting circut

Im trying to wire up a couple of lights to a switch and when the switch is on
everything seems to run fine but as soon as you turn the switch off the circuit
breaker trips. The lights are currently wired in series which i believe may be part of the problem im going to rewire for parallel but im not sure if thats why the breaker is tripping when the light is turned off. Any ideas?

Is this a 3-way switch? How many terminals are on it?

Miswired switch. You are actually turning the switch ON when the breaker trips. Tell all the wire connections you made to create this circuit.

I am going to guess the OP has a Switch leg, and messed it up, when they decided to do a weekend warrior job.
