Wiring an extractor fan

First post. Please be gentle.

I'm replacing a Punto Vortice M90 extractor fan with another Punto Vortice M90 extractor fan. When I switched off the electrics and unscrewed the cover, I noticed the old fan has a circuit board that the new one doesn't. I assume this is because the old one could be used with a timer (though it wasn't). We don't need a timer on the new one, and there is no circuit board on it.

The wiring from the ceiling has a blue wire and a yellow wire which were connected to the old unit via a connector strip, and a red wire, which wasn't connected to anything (no bare wire exposed). All the new unit has is two black wires, both of which are inserted into a connector strip. Does it matter which black wire connects with the blue wire, and which with the yellow, via the connector strip?

Here is a manual for your model I think. Pg 64 and 65 show connections.
