wireless remote for light switch

A number of years ago, I had a Sears garage door opener remote, on which there was a second button with which I could control a special wall switch inside the house from my detatched garage (maybe 75 feet from the switch). Well, the switch wore out and Sears no longer makes them.

I have seen wireless remotes that can contol an outlet, but I can't locate one that will control a wall switch. I wish to be able to control my backyard security lighting from my car.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Check out Leviton's DHC products.

I appreciate your suggestion. In fact, I have checked them out but their transceivers are only for plug-in devices, such as a lamp. They don't seem to have a wall-switch that can be controlled wirelessly.

I have installed DHC swithches controlled by a key fob. Perhaps they're discontinued but I don't think so.

Key fob is HCCKR-E.. I'm still searching for the correct switch. You can always call Leviton tech support.

I believe the HCCKR for communicates with the HCPRF-1TW plug in transceiver with then communicates with the HCC10-1TW or similar wall switch.

thanks - I have that part number, and the only transceiver that it recommends is HCPRF, which is a plug-in device. It's promo for the key-fob says it can "Turn ON/OFF your home’s entry/exterior, garage and driveway lighting as you approach." That certainly doesn't sound like its limited to plug-in devices, but I can't find anything.

Thanks

Might see if x-10 components would work for you. I had a system many years ago that worked out great. I did not have a key bob but think they make one.

I completely agree with this idea. I have been using X-10 devices for more than 10 years now in my home and they have a huge assortment of controllers and devices.

was also going to suggest x-10 pro. they even have a remote that clips to the visor in the car like a garage door opener. Pretty inexpensive too.

ok - I've looked at the x-10 stuff and that looks promising.

Thanks for all of your suggestions!
