Wire Re-identifying


At what AWG can I use a black wire for a nuetral if I re-identify it with white tape?

For the cable* it can be any size but for indivual conductors it have to be 16mm2 ( #6 AWG ) or larger so that pretty much set with NEC codes but I am not too sure with Canada side if you are in there the rules may apply little differnt.

* like NM ( Romex ) or UF ( underground feeder ) cables even a hevey duty extendison cord can do this as well.

#6 awg or larger can be reidentified as a nuetral

Or remarked as phase ( only with oringal black conductor ) conductor of other colours.
