wire labeled 4AWG and 2 THHN

I found this info on the wire feeding my well pump breaker box.
Was wondering whAT the 4AWG and the 2THHN meant as far as
amp ratings . are they different ways of measuring different things A wire Is ELGIBLE TO CARRY?
