Wire chandelier

SEE PIC IN MY ALBUMS - I wish I knew how to paste it here.

Bought used chandelier - has a wire that looks like you cut the plug off the end of a lamp cord- one cord separated into two wires ... and a copper ground.

Wiring it to unused ceiling fan outlet box in brand new home.

Outlet box has a black, red, white and copper (ground) wire.

What to wire to what? I wired to both to black and nothing happens.

Wire chandelier

One side of the wire will have a rib, this is wired to the white wire,
The unribbed wire will wire to the black, or red, depending which switch you want to work the light, and the bare wire goes to the ground.

Wire chandelier

Found a rib...but I practically went cross-eyed doing so - it's barely noticeable!

Thanks! I'll give it a try.
