Wierd electrical outlet problem that involves dvd player

Hi,

Please help.

About 20 minutes into a dvd playing... the movie slows down or freezes and then starts up again slllloooooowwwlllly. The first 20 minutes totally normal.

I have tried three different dvd players and two tvs. It is always the same thing. An electrician came and fixed a different problem. Which was that I had lost a "leg" on top of a power pole. Electric company came and fixed that but the dvd player is still slow.

Any ideas?

Is this happening all of the time on the same movie? My guess would be a bad DVD disc.

It has happened with many disks. No one believes me so they insist witnessing it with their own movies.

It's definitely not an electrical power problem, since the power to a DVD player has absolutely nothing to do with the playback rate of the video. It's not like a record player or tape player - inadequate power doesn't result in a slower spinning DVD, and a slower spinning DVD wouldn't play slower anyway (it just wouldn't play at all). There is no valid explanation based on the symptoms you describe though.
