Question

why are some power tools grounded and some are not?

i have a variety of power tools, some of them are grounded (3-prong plug) and some of them are not (2 prongs). what are the reasons for and against grounding when designing a power tool?

thanks

P.S.: ADMIN, please don't move this thread to tools because i think the people in this forum are more knowledgeable regarding this subject. thanks

Possibly plastic insulation is less expensive to construct than a 3rd copper wire.

Tools that are double insulated are not required to be grounded.
