Why do baseboard heaters have 2 circuit breakers?

I have some very old baseboard heaters that I have removed. Each one has 2 20 amp circuit breakers tied together. For instance circuit breaker #1 is tied to #4 and circuit breaker #2 is tied to #3. What's up with that? Thank you.

You have two breakers tied together because the heaters are 240 volt heaters and require double pole breakers. These breakers tap both busses in the panel and facilitate the required voltage to operate the heating elements.

Is there something your wanting to know other than this? Are you wanting to do something with the breakers?

See the other thread, where you also asked this, for the answer.

Yeah, I thought the same thing after I noticed the time stamps after posting my reply! I opened the thread before he posted but didn't post my answer until more than a half hour later. Had it open in a separate tab in my browser. Didn't feel like changing the comment.
