Question

Whirlpool refridgerator Ice Maket

I have a side by side refridg. freezer. The Ice maker is at the top of freezer and the water & ide dispenser in on the door. The ice maker is making ice, however when I push in for the Ice to dispense through the door, I hear a whining (motor) but the Ice cutter does not crush the ice. I just hear a hum, but nothing is turning. Can anyone help me please.

It's probably frozen in the there because of the crushed ice. I have a Whirlpool with that stuff in the door and we don't use the crushed ice for that reason. The little specs of ice melt at the opening and clog the shoot or freezes the motor.

The worm that dispenses the ice and the "crusher" are 2 different things. I though you were talking about the crusher.

To make a long story short, you'll need to disconnect the motor from the auger, etc and see if it's the motor or a mechanical bind, or a broken coupling or something like that. If you have the model # or the manual you can see how it all connects. Here's a link to a pretty good place http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/
