We have a gas cooktop (with electric start) installed in a pennisula. The gas line runs through the floor, in the cabinet below. (i imagine this is standard) but we have yet to install a dedicated (or semi dedicated) outlet. it seems to me that it would go inside the cooktops base cabinet. But my husband insists that's a fire hazard and it needs to go in the wall over 24" away, or in the countertop beside the cooktop (all high school science lab style).
Is there is a cord for the cooktop hanging in the cabinet below? How is that cord supposed to emerge from below the counter to above?
Installing a receptacle outlet for this appliance inside the cabinet is standard procedure. It's no more of a fire hazard than installing an outlet for a dishwasher or disposal in a cabinet under the sink. Even less, considering you don't have water in the mix.
