Where can the garage GFCI possibly be?

There are four electric outlets in my garage; two are at the ceiling connected to garage openers and the other two are on the wall. The ceiling outlets work fine. But the two on the wall are dead (they used to work fine).

My house was built in 1999, so I assume that there is a GFCI for the garage. Since both outlets are dead, I assume that the CFCI has been tripped. I've looked everywhere but I cannot find it. Nothing in the main circuit breaker is tripped. All the other outlets at my house work fine. Any ideas???

Bathrooms
Laundry rooms
Outside outlets
Kitchen (although not likely based on the age of your house)
Basements

If it makes you feel in better.....in my in-laws house, the outlets for the garage come from a GFIC in the upstairs bathroom at the opposite end of the house. I think the wire for that run is about 2x the cost of the GFIC.

Garage GFCI's are typically located behind the largest pile of stuff / boxes!

FYI - It is because of these frequent "GFCI hunting expeditions" that I feel separate GFCI's should be installed at each outlet or a GFCI breaker used. Then resetting can be done right at the outlet which is not working or at the breaker panel. (No hunting!)

The time I had trouble locating a GFCI receptacle, it was outside, in a semi-hidden location.

I had this same problem two days ago.
It took an hour, but I finally found it at a GFCI outlet next to the panel box.
So, it could be almost anywhere; you just have to keep searching.

Now you could be mistaken about the problem. You could have a broken connection either at the first bad outlet, or at the last good outlet (wherever that it...) or someplace in between. Might have nothing to do with GFCI. Years ago it took me months, literally, to discover that my powderroom outlet was dead because of a bad connection at an outside outlet that it never even occured to me might be on the same circuit.

I assume that my house must have a GFCI for the garage according to regulations. And the GFCI for the garage outlets may be anywhere at my house (gosh). I'll comb through my house...

I can say with absolut certainty, that it will be in the last place you look.....

So....go look there first.

Check the breaker box for a gfci breaker----not likely given the age of the house---but possible---

Oh thanks alot I will own ya one good laugh.

Really I will addres to the OP .,

C'est simple look at the wall where you never bother check behind even if you have chest freezer or your beer fridge behind so there is alot of possiblty it can show up.

One of my customer can't find the RCD ( GFCI ) receptale so it only took me 3 minuites to find it .,, it was up in freaking ceiling next to the GDO

The other customer have RCD on the outdoor location that did feeded to the bathroom ( backwards., Eh ? )
