Having built (and still building) our house ourselves, at the end of a very long day, my husband and I were installing recessed lighting fixtures. He would fix them in place and I would connect the wiring. When He asked me to move the ladder and I told him I couldn't....well, we had a good long laugh over this goof.

That's a safety feature for your attic access stairs, no way the ladders going to tip over.
