What's code for wiring distance from end of studs?
 

Hi,

I'm currently remodeling my basement, and had an electrician rough-in the wiring last week. Could someone tell me what code is for the distance from the wires in a 2x4 stud wall to the edge of the wall? I think it's either 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inches?

Several spots are 1 3/8. The electrician said he'd come back and nail metal plates over them, but if code is 1 1/4 I don't want to bother.

I'll be using 1/2" dryall and 1 1/4" screws, so I should be OK. However, I want to make sure I don't have any surprises come inspection time. Thanks.

It's 1 1/4" from the face of the stud.....NEC Art. 300.4(A)(1).
