What wire to the ufer?

Searched but did not find the clear answer.

100 amp subpanel in detached garage, fed from a 60 amp breaker in the main house panel. Three #6 plus one #10 interconnecting the panels. Ufer installed in the slab of the garage, located about a 8 foot wire run from the subpanel.

What wire and size from the panel to ufer?

Size is based on feeder size.

GEC is not required to be bigger than #4cu.


You most likely have #2al or #4cu for your feeders. (guessing main panel is 100A)
In which case #6al or #8cu, should be larger enough for your UFER GEC.

However check with local codes as some times they want larger.

This is correct, and is also the minimum size GEC.

Color to the ufer should be green - or does it not matter?

#10 as ground between the panels is correct, right?
