What went wrong

I plugged my new tv into a receptacle in the livingroom, suddenly the lights go out in the bathroom and the hall light doesn't work. I flipped the breaker and still nothing, what are some things i should check?

Nothing should have happened.
Look for a tripped GFI.

Any GFCI's or arc fault breakers in your panel?

I'd stop wasting your time looking for GFI's. The first thing I would do is take the receptacle apart and look for any loose connections or damage to the receptacle.

Could be anywhere, no one he's going to know how your house was wired.
Outside outlet, in the garage, kitchen are some of the common places.

Unplug it and then reset the breakerand try again if the light come back on. May be a fried power supply in the new tv.

I would also take that receptacle apart. If not there I would look around for receptacles on the same circuit.
