What type of wire to connect motion sensor to light?

Folks,
I want to install a motion sensor with an exterior light. The motion senor and light were purchased separately so they're not wired together. The place I want to position the motion sensor - a location about two feet away from the light - exceeds the lengths of the thin gauge wires that came with the light and motion sensor.

Question: what type of wiring should I purchase to connect the motion sensor to the light? Once I have the correct wiring, should I make pigtail connections between the two devices? If it helps, I'm going to be powering the devices with a 12-2 gauge wire/20 amp circuit.

Nick

What type of wire to connect motion sensor to light?

I would connect the light and motion sensor with a piece of conduit and pull in 12 awg thhw wire, I know the wire on the light and sensor are likely 14 awg, but if I were using a 20 amp breaker I would use 12 awg wire for anything I put in.
