What to do with painted oulets.

Every outlet seem to be painted over even the gfi's. I know this is not only annoying but a code violation. Most of the latex paint didn't stick completely so this is the question.

Can I clean the outlets up or should I replace?

For the time it would take to clean them I would go ahead and replace them. As long as you are comfortable doing it.

That is what I was thinking. I painting a room after I posted I realized that the original outlet color was to noticeably off to the new color. So they be replaced.

No, I don't have a problem with electricity. As long a s the light saber is not glowing I'll play with the wires.

Now is also a good time to update the appearance. Most often I go from regular toggles to Decora and from bone to white.

Excuse my ignorance but is Decora the retangalur switchs and outlet?

I think bone is the old color. It matched yellowish tint paint on the walls. White is what was thinking to compliment the june breeze tint I bought from K-M.

Decora is the rectangular recepts and paddle type switches. All of the newer homes are going over to them, I suggest them in my remodels especially if we are going to have to replace them for the reasons that you stated plus stuff just gets old from use.

Yep that is what I am going to. All the remodels and new homes I have done lately all had them or installed.
I am noticing more outlets that don't work. For a 13 year old house quite a few are failing prematurely.
Yeah but what do you expect from a tract house that sold for less than $100,000 in '92.
