What did I do wrong?

I replaced the outlet under my sink that runs the garbage disposal and the dishwasher. Now that is has been replaced the power wont turn off to the garbage disposal. It is connected to a switch next to the sink that does nothing now. The garbage disposal just runs unless you unplug it.

I connected it exactly like the old one. I even had someone at Lowe's verify I got the same outlet. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm back....family emergency out of town...sorry...as for your question, the old outlet you had...did it have one side hot all the time and one side switched, it it did, you need to break off the little connecting tab on the hot side that is in the middle of the recepticle near the front, just behind the white insulating piece on the front.

You need to break the tab off the hot side. Look closely at your old receptacle and you will see the tab between the gold screws missing.
