What the deuce?!
So I was following the wiring for the outlet my washing machine is plugged into, so I could see what breaker it's on (the outlet needs to be upgraded), and I discovered that the wiring runs back from the outlet to a light switch, then on to the breaker panel where it has its own breaker. Should a washing machine be on a dedicated circuit like that? And why would someone put a light switch in the middle when they could simply turn off the breaker, when it's only 4 feet away?
And while I'm thinking of it... when I do get around to replacing that outlet, am I correct in assuming it has to be GFCI?
