What color wire is live?

Hello,

Here in the UK I have to wire up a usa DC adapter that can take our 230V input. however as it has a USA plug on it I have to cut it off and replace with a UK one.

However, this is where I am having problems. In the Uk the live wire is brown and the negative or neutral wire is blue. On this adapter I have a black wire and a white wire.

Which is which?

It should be black is hot and white is netural.
