What code covers installation of wall heaters?

Does anyone know what code covers the installation of gas wall heaters in Southern California? More specifically, Orange County?

I am aware that installation of water heaters is covered in the California Plumbing Code. Does that cover gas wall heaters as well?

For Electrical, NEC, for Fire, it would be California Code, and the mandates would be covered under NFPA.

So you are saying that if the city of Huntington Beach comes out to inspect some electrical work, you have to go strictly by the National Electric Code? Not some code from the state or county?

Or more to the point, to pass inspection installation of a wall furnace must pass regulations from all 3 codes?

Hopefully a pro from California will chime in. I'd be cautious about saying that the NEC or International Fuel Gas Code will apply...California is notorious for their codes, and they tend to either amend and add to them, or write their own codes. You need to contact the local jurisdiction to know for sure.

Agreeing here with KC. Your state has the CEC not the NEC, they have several amendments and requirements not found in th NEC. Especially environmental requirements. However I doubt the CEC has much to do with a gas heater installation other than a receptacle possibly. Plumbing codes should be where you need to look.

I will strongly recomend that you get a ahold of your local inspector in your area due the state of California do have a bit of local addmendments to the regulations.

Unforetally I did not save one of the Californina regulations it was pretty long winded and some case you will say >>
