well pump not coming on

I am having an intermittent problem: my well pump doesn't always kick on when the low pressure cutoff is reached, the pressure gauge just drops to zero and there is no water flow. I have to lift the lever on the pressure switch to kick the pump on and get water. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks for any suggestions.

could be a worn out switch or it could be the little riser tube to the switch is blocked. Those are my first best guesses.

Dirty contacts in the switch or the riser tube is blocked

Did you have low pressure cut out switch in the pressure switch ??

If so it will be good time to clean out the small pipe from the pressure switch to the main pipe you will find alot of gunk in there.

If clean then just get new pressure switch if you can find low pressure cutout switch otherwise a standard pressure switch will work just fine but make sure you use the same pressure rating due they do come in 3 maybe 4 diffrent pressure setting.

Merci.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried two different low pressure cut-off switches with the same result, but will check the riser tube for any accumulated gunk.
