well pump


hi will a 10/2 underground wire run a 1hp well pump 240 foot away from my 200 amp breaker box i need help or what size do i need thanks

That will be plenty big for this useage however is this well pump is two wire or three wire that will make the diffrence on that.

However with 6.0mm˛ twinner { 10-2 } you have to remark the white conductor with either tape or marker so you know this is a 240 volt circuit.

thats my fault its 3 wire i should have said 10/3 thanks so much

Ok as long you remark one white conductor to other colours { but NOT green or white or Grey those colours are off limit } and make sure you hook up in proper way with three wire pump set up due most three wire pumps will have run and start conductors the two is run while the start is third one.

And with that distance check with your pump manufacter to see if the third conductor and capaitor is big engough to handle the distance plus the distance in the well itself.

If start up weak may have to boost up the capatitor size { again follow the pump manufacter requirement }
