Vapour Barrier Around Pot Light Box

mhervy,
You need to get intouch with the mfg of the product and follow the reccomended installation instructions.

Recess lights generate alot of heat that needs to be disapated some how.

Installing a vapor barrier or insulation arround the box, may create a spot where heat can build up and start a fire in your house.

Vapour Barrier Around Pot Light Box

jwhite, I'll see if i can get a hold of the manuf. I'm aware of the heat generated by this type of lighting, that is why pot lights installed in insulated ceilings must be installed in CSA approved boxes. However Building code states a complete vapour seal as well as insulation standards that must be met.
