Using Electrical Resistance Wire Outdoors

Hi,
I'm working on a project where I intend to use Electrical Resistance Wiring, outdoors, in order to generate as much heat as possible while maintaining safety.

What is a good, durable, material that I could use to insulate the wire while allowing as much heat to radiate as possible?

What are some other good options if Electrical Resistance isn't the best option? I need it to be portable and relatively easy to move.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Electrical cords are not meant to be used for heating. They may warm up a little under load but if they should get very warm they will be unsafe.

You can get roof heating cables (normally installed zigzagged at the roof eaves) and lay them where you want; you leave them uncovered.

You can get heating strips intended for such purposes as keeping pipes from freezing or for thawing them; the instructions suggest what (if any) kinds of insulation are safe for wrapping the pipe after you put the strip on the pipe.

Both of these heating items plug into extension cords, usually heavy duty cords are needed.

Do not string bare resistance wire such as Nichrome about the place.
