I was going to drill into some concrete and use tapper screws, but the bit wouldn't go through, I decided to use some construction adhesive rated for metal to concrete. After 29 hours, its hard as a rock. Is it ok to use this as a securing method? (This box is in an old work install)
I used liquid nails along with the nail in plastic boxes on my last job here at home. No way they will ever come loose. Could be a bad thing if you think about it.
Thats good to know. The masonry was thicker than I thought...The 1/2 inch bit went through it like butter while the 3/8 (I think) bit did not want to go through it at all.
Are you using a hammer drill or just a standard power drill? I found a cheap "Tool Shop" brand hammer drill for 30 bucks at a local Menards home improvement center here. Its cheap and if it breaks then no big deal; it has served my occasional concrete drilling purposes just fine and its still working. I wouldn't use this on a daily basis or for a ton of concrete drilling, but for the small jobs its perfect (and cheap too).
Something to keep in mind. A hammer drill, drills the hole evenly and will not enlarge the hole by operator misalignment. Using a regular drill can cause the hole to be wider than required and then your anchor strength could be compromised. The reason I bring this up is due to the instructions that come with most concrete fasteners.
The best reason is, IT's EASIER!!!!
