The Use of Conduit

Well, I have 2 questions related to conduit. So I though I would combine the two into one. I just wanted some opinions, since there is really no code to follow with these. We have a 1 story home with just a crawlspace.

1) I installed a sprinkler system a few months back. And it works great! Only problem is animals chewing on the control wire going to the boxes. The timer is mounted in a spare bedroom on the wall just outside the sprinkler boxes. The wire runs down into the crawlspace through the floor and right outside the vent underground for about 10ft. Since it said direct burial, thats what I did.
Well, now I am sorry I DID direct bury, due to animals and moles.
Can I put this in small conduit to go from the crawlspace vent, to the valve box so animals stay away?

2) Same room location, except speaker wire this time. Same path, and it goes around the corner of the house to some outside speakers on wooden poles.
Put speaker wire in small conduit (seperate from sprinklers) from vent and up the pole to the speakers?

If the animals are a problem then yes I would put it in conduit. Are they getting into the valve box or just chewing the wires that run underground to the box? The speaker wires can also go in the couduit without any problem.

Nope, the box is fine. I made sure to seal the holes and bottom. Its moles and squirrels, chipmunks, etc that are chewing on it where its above ground for the only foot from the vent to dirt, and the 10ft run to the boxes.

Thanks! I'm goin' to get the conduit now.
