USE cable for sub panel

I am planning on putting a 100 amp sub panel in my basement. The main load center is in the garage about 40 feet away. I was hoping to use Southwire 27282306 USE cable for the 2 hot conductors in a 1" PVC conduit plus the ground and a neutral wire (i am thinking #4 or #6 copper for the ground and neutral wires but I am not sure on that aspect) Can this number 2 aluminum wire be used in a conduit since it is rated as Direct Burial? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Carl.

You should just get SER cable. Depending on which code cycle you are under will effect the proper cable size.

USE cable for sub panel

Yes i was going to use the SER cable but I thought since my friend had a 500 foot spool of #2 USE I could save some money by not having to buy the SER. Is USE acceptable to use in conduit in the house? Carl

USE is underground service entrance cable. It is not for use in the interior of a house.
