Upgrading service

When connecting the new feed to the power line at my house, can't I use something to connect then "temporaily". Then the Power Co. comes to connect them?

Where do you get these things?

Ask your power company. They are the ONLY ones who can answer this question accurately.
In MOST areas it is literally against the law for you to even be messing with these connections.
If you are allowed to do this they will have very specific instructions as to what to do.
