Upgrade and addition

I currently have a 200 amp service with a 20KW emergency generator with automatic transfer switch (ATS) feeding my panel back to back with the meter. I am adding a large addition to my house and due to location the current meter and generator will have to be removed. I am upgrading to a 400 amp service (320 amp Meter base). I want to to split the loads after the meter to feed the old panel directly (under the new slab floor) and feed the new panel via the generator. What are my options?

Mount the panels and ATS right next to each other and nipple every thing together so you can easily move circuits around to your specific needs.

You either need a 400 amp disconnect outside, or your 200 amp disconnects need to be grouped inside...

Is your existing ATS service rated at the moment?

As a side note, just have your electrician give you your options, why ask a DIY site?

The ATS is rated at 200 amps, is totally installed and has been working fine for the last year and a half.

Can I use the 320 amp meter with a 200 amp disconnect on either side and then the ATS on the other side of the appropriate disconnect?
