Question

Underground Conduit

I am in the process of landscaping my backyard and preparing for future pool services (electrical & gas). I pulled a permit to run gas (2" PE) & electrical (2" PVC) to my backyard and stub it just past my proposed side-yard concrete. Gas was installed by licensed plumber already. Electrical still awaiting installation (considering doing myself because only conduit & no tie-ins at the moment). I am not sure what the general electrical codes are for installing electrical conduit in Contra Costa County, CA. Does gas & electrical need any separation when in same trench, or can they just sit on one another? Can I just place a conduit cap on each end that I stub out of the ground, or do I need a junction box? Can I back-fill the trench was the soil that was excavated, or do I need sand,...?

Thank you

Underground Conduit

Normally the electrical conduits are buried 18 inches down from the finshed grade some local codes may say diffrent.

You will need to bring full 4 conductor and unforetally no bare conductor is allowed and there are a bit of codes to cover with swimming pools and they are very strict with it.

Some local area they will not allowed homeowner to hook up the power for the pool it have to be done by licesed electrician to do this.

So the size of pool subpanel will depending on the way you want to set up the pool like pump size , lighting lay out etc

and if the trench is pretty wide you can lay electrical conduit and gaz pipe near each other but all it depending on your local codes.

Merci.
Marc
