UF wire under an enclosed deck

I have a deck which is fully enclosed, in other words the only way under it is through an access door.

I have 12/2 UF wire coming to the deck via a PVC pipe for an outlet but I'd like to add a few more outlets. Is it OK to just staple the additional UF wire to the undersides of the beams or does it need to be fully enclosed in PVC pipe to each outlet box?

The UF can be secured to the deck as long as it is not subject to physical damage. If subject to damage it would require protection like conduit.

Any reason it needs to be UF? Much harder to work with because it's so stiff.
