Which type of PVC conduit and wire for slab?

OK- I was able to "channel" into the slab about 2" down and 2" wide- I need to get power out to a kitchen island to be installed. The island will have a microwave in it- Now that the channel is done (I may still have to widen/deepen it a little more)- What type of PVC Conduit needs to go in there? Metal/plastic? Once the conduit is run- since the wire is not really underground- Can I run straight romex?

PVC conduit. Romex is not allowed. Use UF cable or pipe it box to box.
